WOW!!!

2009 LEFT US BEING THANKFUL FOR OUR MEDICAL INSURANCE!! We kept most of Aaron's bills from the hospitals and doctors, but didn't keep all of our other bills, so this breakdown is just an estimate. You could probably literally add on at least $5-10,000 more to be accurate. Just thought we'd give you a look into our VERY expensive year...

NEUROSURGERY/2 DAY STAY: Approx $78,000
(Should we even count Cresta and Hadlee's?)

1 OUTPATIENT (20 HR) NEURO ICU STAY: Approx $16,000

MRI's: Approx: $18,600
Hadlee x1, the rest Aaron

33 RADIATION TREATMENTS: Approx $54,400

TOTAL ESTIMATED BILLED MEDICAL COSTS: Approx $165,000
TOTAL OUT OF POCKET FOR US: Approx $800
(This does not include the $930 in prescription copays or the 15-20 office visit copays-we don't have any clue how much all those things cost without the insurance!)

Wow, that is amazing. And to all my friends at work, I am sure that my family is solely responsible for the increase in HCA's insurance premiums this year. I am surprised we are still covered this year. Here's to a healthier and MUCH less expensive 2010!!

But never fear, we didn't come away from this HUGE pile of bills without a few souvenirs (sorry if it is a little graphic for some of you!!)...

"THE HANNIBAL THE CANNIBAL MASK"
This was Aaron's mask he had to wear during every treatment of radiation to hold his head in the exact same spot each time. Of course Hadlee had to try it on!!

40 OR 50 SURGICAL STAPLES

Okay, so we didn't actually keep them-only for 7 days until I took them out for him!!

And I thought I would add this photo for those of you who were freaked out by the above one. This is a picture of him 6 weeks post-op, see how nice it healed!!!

Yeah....those medical bills can pile up, can't they? Paul's abdomen had a ton of staples too, which I took out as well! Of course, I wasn't having babies & stuff (myself)! That has to make things more rough! It looks like he healed very nicely! (Paul looks like he has 2 belly buttons now...lol). Thanks for sharing! Love Ya, girl!!

WOW! I can't believe that. Thank goodness for health insurance! And thank goodness your family is all doing well now. You have such a cute family!
